Thank You Steve
Our friend, Mr Steve, was a true friend and a living saint. He taught people what it meant to love without using any words. His entire life was dedicated to serving others and his community.
Since his passing, so many people have shared memories about how he was the kindest, sweetest, most caring, fun and considerate human they had ever met.
He touched hundreds of lives as a special education teacher, a soccer coach, a friend and a volunteer. People who met him remembered him for his smile, his positive persona or both.
He was educated and cultured, yet simple and grounded. He was proud of his Polish heritage and his family, especially Dan and Patti, who were his center.
He truly put others before himself and understood what it meant to make sacrifices for the betterment of someone else. He did it all the time without making a peep.
There are actually people who will shovel someone else's driveway, mow their lawn, help them move, be an airport shuttle- all out of the goodness of their heart. That was Steve. He set the standard for what it meant to give when no one was looking.
The amount of people who considered him one of their closest friends shows he always put others before himself. The truest of friends.
Above all, his proudest role was being a Dad. Seeing him with his students, other kids or his good friend Cory over the years, everyone knew Steve was going to be the best Dad.
The first time I saw him with Christian in the hospital I noticed a change. Because of what he taught me, I was able to feel and experience that same change when I became a Dad. He taught us by example even when we didn’t know it.
When Claire Bear was born, his smile somehow got brighter. They were his world. You felt his happiness so much when you were around them, there was no denying he was beyond content.
He will be missed. He will be remembered. We know what his final wish would be and there’s no question the friends of Stevie K will make it happen. It’s the least we could do for all that he’s done for us.
Thank you Steve.
