About Bilal Saeed

Sport was never just a game to me — it was identity, culture, and community.

Growing up in Metro Detroit with the Detroit Pistons logo on my wall, the Bad Boys era sparked more than fandom — it sparked purpose. That early love for sport ultimately shaped a 15+ year career at the intersection of brand, culture, and commerce.

In 2022, I joined the Detroit Pistons as Vice President of Brand & Marketing Strategy, leading a 25+ person team across brand, culture, content, and retail. During my tenure, the organization became the top NBA team in social growth (2024–25), doubling engagement and generating more than $15M in media value. I’ve led global influencer strategies, retail collaborations, cultural partnerships, and record-setting activations designed to grow audience relevance and commercial impact.

But long before the NBA, I was building from the ground up.

In 2014, I co-founded AFC Ann Arbor, serving as Board Chair for seven years. We launched men’s and women’s teams, built a nonprofit youth academy, secured multi-year title sponsors, and developed a content strategy later featured in a global Google case study. I remain a proud co-owner and advocate for the club’s continued growth.

Earlier in my career, I founded Pakmode Media + Marketing, a nationally recognized boutique agency producing major arena events, statewide tournaments, and strategic brand partnerships across sport and entertainment.

My Approach

Whether building brand platforms, launching cultural collaborations, advising nonprofits, or teaching future leaders, my work centers on one principle:

Sport is culture. Culture drives connection. Connection drives impact.

And when done right, that impact lasts far beyond the final score.

Off court leader

My work extends far beyond marketing.

I am deeply committed to youth empowerment, equity, and community development. I currently serve as:

  • Chair, The Mighty Oak Project

  • Co-Founder, CLR Academy

  • Advisor, SunBundle

  • Appointee, Michigan Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness

These roles reflect a consistent belief: sport can develop minds, bodies, and futures when paired with mentorship, access, and opportunity.

IN THE CLASSROOM

I also believe in building what comes next.

I serve as Lecturer at the University of Michigan, teaching Entrepreneurial Marketing, and at Wayne State University, teaching Ethics in Sport and Sport Marketing.

Bridging real-world experience with academic instruction allows me to mentor the next generation of sport business leaders while staying grounded in evolving industry innovation.
